About me

Cadie Copeland is 20 year old student at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City Missouri. She is in her 2nd year, pursuing her BFA, and majoring in painting with a minor in entrepreneurial studies. Copeland is a Kansas City native with work continuing to appear in local spaces. Copeland is currently focused on themes of nostalgia, digital fantasy, and femininity.

Artists Statement

My work is rooted in an intrinsic motivation to paint things accurately. In the pursuit of accurate representation, I discover the subtle details that shape a subject. My favorite moment in the process is when a single small stroke locks an image in place, completing the painting. I fell in love with the process of creating and recreating images by hand. With my recent body of work, I have begun capturing a bizarre combination of subjects, exploring the tension between two things you'd never see together in those situations.
